How to send email from web app
I have a requirement where I need to send out 100's of emails. It has to happen from a web site so I don't have to have them log into the system. Also, it has to happen in the background.
I was doing this before with a cron job to run a php script, but that doesn't seem to work anymore as email is only accepted from a certain IP. I can still send from my local computer, but not from anything else.
What is a good way to achieve this, preferably without a separate domain/server. I can get a domain name from GoDaddy if it's not possible with my current hosting setup.

You can set up a cron job to run at a specific interval and send an email out from the server.
If you don't want to use a separate domain for that, then you can do that as well. However, if you want to set up a dedicated server for this task, then you don't need to have a cron job. You can use the PHP mail() function for it.
You have 3 things to keep in mind with this.
Your IP will need to be whitelisted.
Your IP needs to belong to the server that will run the PHP script.
You need a mail server. You can have a dedicated mail server or use something like Zimbra.
If you want to use the dedicated server, then you need a mail server (e.g. Postfix) installed on your server. If you are on a shared hosting, you won't have access to your server's configuration files.
