How to Recover Your Dell N7010 Windows 7 Home Premium X64 System

If you have a Dell N7010 laptop that came with Windows 7 Home Premium X64 pre-installed, you may need to restore your system to its original state in case of a system failure, malware infection, or other problems. Fortunately, Dell provides an OS Recovery tool that allows you to create a recovery USB key with the licensed OS version that shipped with your system based on the Service Tag[^4^]. You can also download a compatible system image that includes USB 3.1 and NVMe driver support if your laptop has an Intel 6th generation processor, known as a Skylake chipset[^1^]. In this article, we will show you how to use these tools to recover your Dell N7010 Windows 7 Home Premium X64 system.

Step 1: Find Your Service Tag and Serial Key

The Service Tag is a 5-7 digit alphanumeric code that identifies your specific Dell device. You can find it on a sticker on the bottom of your laptop, or in the BIOS by pressing F2 during startup. The Service Tag is required to use the OS Recovery tool and to download the system image from Dell's website[^4^]. The Serial Key is a 25-character code that activates your Windows 7 Home Premium X64 license. You can find it on a sticker on the bottom of your laptop, or by using a key finder program such as Belarc Advisor or Magic Jelly Bean Keyfinder if you still have access to your Windows installation[^2^]. The Serial Key is required to activate Windows after the recovery process.

Step 2: Create a Recovery USB Key

To create a recovery USB key, you will need a blank USB flash drive with at least 16 GB of storage space. You will also need another computer with internet access and a USB port. Follow these steps to create the recovery USB key:

Go to https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/osiso/recoverytool and enter your Service Tag. Click Check Availability to see if there is a recovery image for your device[^4^].

If there is a recovery image available, click Download to download the Dell OS Recovery Tool. Run the tool and follow the instructions to create the recovery USB key.

If there is no recovery image available, or if you have a Skylake chipset and need the USB 3.1 and NVMe driver support, go to https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000123352/windows-7-recovery-image-download-available-with-usb-3-1-and-nvme-driver-support and click Download File under the appropriate system image for your device[^1^]. Save the file to your computer.

Extract the contents of the downloaded file using a program such as WinRAR or 7-Zip. You should see a folder named Sources and a file named boot.wim.

Format your USB flash drive as FAT32 using Windows Disk Management or another tool. Copy the Sources folder and the boot.wim file to the root of your USB flash drive.

Rename the boot.wim file to winre.wim.

Create a new folder on your USB flash drive named Dell. Inside this folder, create another folder named Image. Inside this folder, create another folder named Factory.wim.

Copy the file named Factory.wim from inside the Sources folder on your USB flash drive to the a474f39169
