DCS: F-14 By Heatblur Simulations - A High-Fidelity Simulation of the Iconic Tomcat

DCS: F-14 By Heatblur Simulations is a module for the popular Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) World that simulates the legendary F-14 Tomcat, a two-crew, variable wing-geometry, maritime air superiority fighter that served with the US Navy for 32 years and continues to serve with the IRIAF in Iran. The module is the result of several years of research, coding and modelling by Heatblur Simulations, a team of passionate developers who strive to create the most realistic and immersive simulations possible.

The module features both the A and B models of the Tomcat, with the A model following the B later during the Early Access period. The external model of the aircraft is highly detailed and accurate, built using laser scanning and photogrammetry taken of real, museum F-14 Tomcats. The cockpit is also incredibly detailed and accurate, with every switch and knob modelled and functional, using photogrammetry from museum F-14 Tomcats as well. The flight model is based on real performance data and verified by real F-14 pilots, providing a realistic and challenging experience for virtual pilots.

The module also features a comprehensive simulation of the aircraft systems, including the Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS), the variable wing geometry system, the electrical, hydraulic and fuel systems, and the powerful AN/AWG-9 Weapons Control System (WCS) and radar. The AWG-9 allows employment of the long-range AIM-54 Phoenix air-to-air missile, as well as other weapons such as the AIM-7 Sparrow, AIM-9 Sidewinder, M61 Vulcan cannon, bombs and rockets. The module also includes the LANTIRN targeting pod, which allows precision ground strikes using laser-guided bombs.

One of the most unique features of the module is the cooperative multiplayer functionality, which allows one player in the front seat to play as the pilot and one in the back seat to act as the Radar Intercept Officer (RIO). The RIO is responsible for operating the radar, managing the weapons, communicating with other aircraft and providing situational awareness to the pilot. The module also features two AI assistants: JESTER and ICEMAN. JESTER is a lifelike AI that fills the role of RIO when flying in single-player or multiplayer without a human RIO. JESTER has an interactive interface with a comprehensive library of voice-acted phrases, and can perform various tasks such as locking targets, launching missiles, setting waypoints, changing radar modes and more. ICEMAN is a limited-functionality AI that pilots the aircraft in single-player mode when you are in the rear seat acting as the RIO.

The module also recreates some of the historic events that involved the F-14 Tomcat, such as the two Gulf of Sidra incidents, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and others. The module also includes several training missions, single-player missions and campaigns that will test your skills as a Tomcat pilot or RIO.

DCS: F-14 By Heatblur Simulations is a must-have for any fan of military aviation or simulation. It offers a high-fidelity simulation of one of the most iconic and versatile aircraft ever built, with stunning graphics, realistic physics, complex systems and immersive gameplay. Whether you want to fly solo or with a friend, engage in air-to-air or air-to-ground combat, or just enjoy flying this beautiful machine, DCS: F-14 By Heatblur Simulations will provide you with hours of fun and challenge.
